Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar
IIT Gandhinagar is currently located in Chandkheda, which is about a 15-minute drive from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
IIT Gandhinagar was established in 2008. The institute is managed by a Board of Governors, interspersed with a Senate.
The major facilities are:
Computer centre: the institute has a good computer centre. Apart from the computer centre, each and every student can access to internet in the campus as it is Wi-Fi enabled.
Library: The library has more than 11,000 books and journals.
Hostels: There are separate hostels available for boys and girls
Sports: The institute also provides facilities for indoor and outdoor games.
Materials Science and Engineering
The Student Placement Office (SPO) is very active in the institute. The SPO, apart from providing placements for the students, it also encourages them to undertake internships during the summer break to gain experience at various universities and industries in India and abroad.
The major student activities are:
'Nyasa: ITGN community has started an initiative called 'Nyasa' to provide help to campus construction workers and their families
Project Sakar: It is an initiative by the students of IIT Gandhinagr to promote interest in Maths and Science among the school girls of standard 6,7,8 and 9.
Blood Donation Drive: it is conducted every year in the institute in partnership with the NGO named Prathama
